After a wild ride learning how to use a stencil, I made this card using a sentiment from Creative Vision Stamps' "Simply Said" set. I was going for a 70's vibe with my color choices and added some of my speciality "tatting" around the bottom area.
This sullen Halloween Trick-or-Treater (who really reminds me of the little brother in "A Christmas Story) comes from Creative Vision Stamps' "Pet Monsters" set. The image is stamped then colored with Copic markers and mounted with a sentiment on some pretty plaid paper.
Oh, the shine of this card made using Creative Vision Stamps' "Beary Merry" set! Unfortunately, you can't really tell from the photo. The background is a Foilable that took about 40 seconds to make once the Minc was heated up. I added a layer of gold glittery card stock on top of that and cut a hole to fit the sentiment
The cupcake and sentiment on the tag are from Creative Vision Stamps' "Hello, Cupcake!" clear set. I was craving a little chocolate while making this, so I went with chocolate frosting and a sprinkle of glitter on top.
This little guy is just so cute! (Unlike it's cousin, the slug, especially when you walk outside in the early morning without your shoes on. Not that I have any experience with this...) I paired his up with a sheet of Creative Vision Stamps' Foilables. To add more interest to the dots, I popped epoxy dots randomly on them.
Nothing very clever to creating this card, as the paper does most of the work. I colored the snail and made the border with Copic markers and embellished with epoxy dots. This slimy little guy comes from Creative Vision Stamps' "Stick With It" stamp set. As you can clearly see, its not taking it's own advice as it careens around a corner!
You know every respectable bovine has a shawl to wear. Right, Bossie? Bossie comes from Creative Vision Stamps' Foilable "Animals" package. Our girl here is wearing a very fashionable shawl over her gorgeous shade of blue foil!
As promised, here is another card using the "Beary Merry" set from Creative Visions Stamps. This time, I focused on the trees, rather than the bears.
This card, created with Creative Vision Stamps' "Beary Merry" set, reminds me a bit of a chapter from one of the Mary Poppins books by P. L. Travers. For those of you who've only seen the movie musical, you haven't experienced the real Mary Poppins. She is certainly magical, but she is also self-absorbed and prone to teaching scary lessons to misbehaving children. Nonetheless, I love the magic and have read all the books more than once.
The chapter I reference has to do with putting stars up in the sky. Here's a paragraph from the book: "Then Jane and Michael saw a most amazing sight. As soon as she arrived at the top of her ladder, Mrs. Corry dipped her brush into the glue and began slapping the sticky substance against the sky. And Mary Poppins, when this had been done, took something shiny from her basket and fixed it to the glue. When she took her hand away they saw that she was sticking the Gingerbread Stars to the sky. As each one was placed in position it began to twinkle furiously, sending out rays of sparkling golden light." Whoo-hoo! There are a lot of fantastic new stamp sets at Creative Vision Stamps; it's an incredible new release of stamps and Foilables!
"...faaaaa-rrm livin' is the life for me. Land spreading out so far and wide; keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside." Admit it, you just sang the whole song, didn't ya? I think I know all the theme songs from television of that era. (If only all the television of that era was worth the remembering!)
You can't get much more masculine than a lion, and this image from Creative Vision Stamps' Foilables series. I whipped out some safari paper I'd had for awhile and I think it's just right for this gorgeous. Seeing this made me remember the cross-eyes lion on the 60's TV show "Daktari." I'm seriously dating myself with this reference! This sentiment, from Creative Vision Design's "Whoop De Freakin' Do!" was just too perfect for this retro paper; I had to make the card!
I know some people are probably horrified that I cut the sentiment apart. I do this to a lot of sentiment stamps and don't feel one bit bad about it. I can always line it back up the way it was originally and have the added benefit of making the sentiment work for many different applications. C'mon! Liberate yourself and your stamps - trim them out and go wild!
This cheery little card might be better suited to December or January, but any day now, real summer is going to hit the Pacific Northwest, and I'll be whining about sweat and no air conditioning. So I'm wallowing in all the Winter I can find!
Love this masculine card! The bear image is perfectly foiled . . . and both bear and foil come from Creative Vision Stamps. This foiling business is EASY and the foil from Creative Vision Stamps is incredible
If you struggle with masculine cards, these Foilables may be your saving grace. And there's a "full monty" of choices! (And don't you just love that movie? It's good every time I watch it!) Purple is my favorite color, and it is such a great - and sometimes unexpected - color for winter. I used Creative Vision Stamps' "Create 8" Paisley as a background because the flowers and swirls reminded me of Winter's snow and wind. (I'm originally from Kansas, so I can tell you about wind!) I also used Creative Vision Stamps' "Blessings of the Season" for my image. I went monochromatic but still ended up with a lot of texture because I added lilac glitter and chunky white glitter to add a bigger winter feel.
These Foilables are a great time saver and look like a million bucks with the incredible shine they give off. If you haven't tried foiling before, I recommend the foils at Creative Vision Design - high quality and lots of product!
